Part of the aging process includes accepting responsibility. The friends with you will not pay the tickets, or get the points on their license. Their insurance does not go up. And you have the choice of whether yours does or not.

You will no longer be running around town with the gang, having fun and partying. Babies, toddlers, and loved ones are now the primary concern. Along with doing your best to keep them safe, you also understand about the value of the car you drive.

So maybe the police are not actually hassling the young for the way they drive. On the road to maturity there will many lessons. Some we appreciate when we get them, others come to us later in life, when we can finally understand.

However, the good student will learn. They will pay attention to their surroundings, remembering the important things. And they will learn that the relationship between age and traffic tickets is just that. With age comes experience and knowledge about safe driving.
